OâNeal joined Hollywoodâs eliteâincluding Rick Ross, Jennifer Lopez, and Gloria Estefanâon Miamiâs exclusive Star Island in 2004. The Lakers star declared his new loyalties to his new team, the Miami Heat, with the purchase of the $18.8 million home. The two-story Moroccan-inspired behemoth, originally built in 1936, measured 15,000 square feet, with 19 bedrooms, seven full and seven half bathrooms, situated on two-and-a-half acres of waterfront property. The property previously belonged to Miami Heat player Rony Siekaly; OâNeal himself didnât stay long, listing the place for $35 million in 2007 before finally selling it at a loss, for $16 million in 2009, reportedly to Naomi Campbellâs then billionaire boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin.
Boston âbig houseâ
In 2010, OâNeal signed with the Boston Celtics, and during that time, he picked up a sprawling property in Sudbury, Massachusetts, for an undisclosed amount. The compound included a thirteen-room mansion, a separate five-room guest house, a three-room apartment, and a par-three golf course on its extensive grounds. On an episode of The Late Show With David Letterman, OâNeal revealed that he ended up in that spot by Googling the phrase, âbig house outside of Boston.â
Modest Mount Dora house
One year after announcing his retirement from the NBA, OâNeal ushered in a new chapter with the purchase of a $235,000 home in Mount Dora, Florida, just north of Orlando. The decidedly more modest house may have been an investment property or a gift to a loved one or relative; regardless, the 3,904-square-foot home featured five bedrooms and four bathrooms. He sold it just two years later for $240,000, despite reports by TMZ that he sold it for a head-scratching $10.
Atlanta compound
OâNealâs next real estate purchase netted him a foothold near Atlantaâin 2016, he paid $1.15 million for a compound in McDonough, Georgia, just about 30 miles southeast of the city. The 14-acre property is its own park-like getaway, and features two homes, a three-stall barn with an attached workshop, and a swimming pool. The primary house was built in 2008 and is a brick five-bedroom Traditional with a two-story foyer, a 12-seat home theater, a game room, and a gym. The second house is a three-bedroom abode with an attached sun porch. Combined, the two homes measure a generous 7,400 square feet. OâNeal still retains this property.
Bell Canyon property
Just over a year later, the NBA legend was at it again, this time buying a 1990s Tudor-style home in LAâs Bell Canyon enclave for $1.82 million. The mansion measured 5,217 square feet and had five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, with all the makings of a modern fairytale abode: a faux-timbered stucco exterior and a turreted entry. The interiors of the home were a tad more modern, however, and featured an open floor plan with a combination lounge and informal dining space in addition to the more formal dining and living rooms, the latter of which had a vaulted ceiling with a modern fireplace. OâNeal tossed the home back on the market for $2.5 million in 2019; it sold for $1.85 million in 2021, possibly with a little help from the athleteâs social media savvy.
Third McDonough property
In 2020, OâNeal reportedly expanded his Atlanta-area holdings with the purchase of a third McDonough propertyâthis time a 9,148-square-foot residence with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, for which he paid $1.125 million. Images of the home reveal plenty of built-in shelves and cabinetry, and double-height ceilings. He still owns this house.
Fourth McDonough place
The next year, the athlete picked up a fourth home in the area, this time a smaller property measuring 4,635 square feet, for just $387,500. The pad featured five bedrooms and four bathrooms, and photographs of the interior reveal a decidedly more dated aesthetic; itâs unclear whether OâNeal purchased this more modest property as an investment or to gift to relatives or a loved one, but he does still own it.
Miami contemporary
Also in 2021, OâNeal picked up a contemporary-style home in the town of Davie, just outside of Miami, for $2.625 million. The seven bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion measures 6,511 square feet and boasts a billiard room, a home theater, a wine room, and a pool out back. Images reveal an angular structure with oversize windows, clean lines, and a double-height covered patio.
Las Vegas property
That year proved to be a year of abundance for OâNealâin addition to the homes in Atlanta and Miami, he also snapped up a residence in Las Vegas for $1.9 million in 2021. The stucco home, originally built in 1993, measures 5,900 square feet and features four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It also boasts a large pool and hot tub, as well as a putting green and a built-in barbecue. The pro athlete reportedly spent nearly $1 million remodeling the mansion, only to flip it back onto the market the following year for $3 million. OâNeal might have had second thoughts, however, as he took it back off the market a few months later. It appears he still owns this residence.
Dallas suburban home
In 2022, OâNeal purchased a European-inspired house in Carrollton, Texas. While the actual price he paid for the pad is unknown, it was last listed for just under $1.22 million, so itâs likely that the pro baller paid somewhere in that same ballpark. The current sports analyst continues to have a flair for the dramatic: his new abode features stone columns and two grand Corinthian columns between the front foyer and the formal dining room. Thereâs also a library space wrapped in polished wood paneling, as well as a whole wall of windows that look out onto the backyard. The spread measures 5,300 square feet and boasts five bedrooms and five full and two half bathrooms; a home theater and a lagoon-style saltwater swimming pool round out the homeâs amenities. OâNeal once again decided to trade up his residence after a relatively short period of time; he listed it for $1.7 million in the summer of 2024. He sold it just one month later.
North Texas residence
Right around the time OâNeal listed his Carrollton home in 2024, reports surfaced that the same trust had picked up another mansion for $2.3 million. This property was allegedly a six-bedroom, six-bathroom Mediterranean-style stunner in the Ridge Lakes development in the Rockwall County town of Heath, just 20 miles from Dallas. OâNeal, ever the friendly celeb, was spotted grabbing fast food and even popping into a Walmart in Rockwall County around the time of the reported deal.
