Remember your first year of teaching? Remember your first week of teaching that year? I know for me, by Wednesday, I had used up all my “inspiring” sticky notes for my bathroom mirror and was operating on sheer willpower. By the time Saturday night rolled around, I was in my baggiest clothes and barely keeping my eyes open on the couch. When I saw this video by @mrs.johnson.teachess, I was immediately pulled back to those first weeks of school!
This teacher rocking her Walmart nightgown before 8 p.m. is all of us after the first week of school.
We love any video that starts with “I’m probably about to embarrass myself on the internet, but …” After checking her watch and sharing that it is currently 7:56 p.m. on a Saturday night, she starts giggling uncontrollably as she steps back to show off her extremely cool (we’re guessing literally, not figuratively here) nightgown.
Let’s check it out:
How many of us can raise our hand that we proudly did the exact same thing? I raise my comically large mug of bedtime tea to you, @mrs.johnson.teachess! It looks like her two main necessities for the comfiest Saturday night ever are her muumuu and an 8 p.m. bedtime.
What others are saying …
Most of her comments section shows other teachers also feeling that 8 p.m. wait!
I applaud @mrs.johnson.teachess for waiting, but I don’t think I ever let a clock prevent me from getting in bed before 8 p.m.!
Truth! We were all thinking it; she said it!
@mrs.johnson.teachess nails this one. When I’m exhausted, I can’t stand clothes clinging to my body due to sensory overload!
Isn’t this the truth? The older I get, the more I feel the burden of physical activities, especially during the first weeks of school!
As we share a collective yawn, remember the first week of school is both a marathon and a sprint. But hey, year after year, we make it through because that’s what teachers do! We endure, we educate, and yes, we enjoy that Saturday night of comfort after the first week of school. Grab your muumuus, oversized blankets, and a slice of pizza—we’ve earned every bit of rest and comfort possible! Cheers to making a difference, one cozy Saturday night at a time.
