One mom’s TikTok video went viral last year for the ingenious laundry organization tips she offers. Siraya is a stay-at-home mom and mother of three who posts mom hacks, life tips and more. But it’s her laundry room sorting baskets viral video that had everybody wondering, “why didn’t we think of this before?”
“My new laundry basket sorting system,” the mom of three begins. The camera zooms in on the corner of the laundry room where she has a column of white shelves and one large basket sitting on each shelf.
“I used two 10-inch L brackets and a 12-inch by 24-inch Rubbermaid white laminate shelf,” she explains.
Shelves and baskets are not life-changing but it’s all about how she uses them. Yes, this mom hack is a total game changer because this smart mama reveals that her secret is all about color-coded baskets. It just makes so much sense.
“My biggest laundry hack is sorting it by person and if you’ve been around a while you know that my kids are color coded.”
She then shows exactly how she utilizes them. Once the dryer is done, she simply takes each piece of clothing out and sorts them into their correct baskets. So simple and yet it saves so much time when you think about the energy and time it takes to sort a big pile of laundry.
“On folding day, I take the basket that I’m going to currently work on and I take it to the room I’m going to fold it. Once folded, I return the empty basket for refilling. The best part is that if someone needs something, they know exactly which basket to go look for it in. No more digging around in a large hamper that’s filled with everybody’s clothes. It’s a nice way of streamlining your laundry process and keeping your laundry room organized.
With over 2 million views, it’s safe to say that her laundry organization tips are a real game changer. This is ideal for any family but especially for bigger families where the laundry room can look like a tornado with everyone’s clothes strewn about.
“Yes! I need to do this for our family of 6!”
“Yes sorting the laundry by person helps! We all have our own hampers too but we don’t turn on a not full washing machine unless we absolutely have to”
“Need this!! Love the idea”
“How come I’ve never thought of this 😳”
“Yes yes yes! This is exactly what I’ve been after!!! Thanks for the how to!”
