Brooklinen is a favorite bedding brand for us at AD—our editors have long-loved their sheets, comforters, pillows; we even made a best-of list that spotlights their high-quality materials, accessible price points, and timeless designs. Their new release, out today, with Brooklyn-based design studio Caroline Z Hurley, delivers on all our high expectations. In fact, I woke up in the new block-print floral percale sheets, and can confirm they’re as crisp, cool, and aesthetic as Brooklinen claims.
Originally a painter herself, Caroline Z Hurley drew on her fine art background when conceptualizing the designs, which manifested in two patterns: a maxi-stripe and a block-printed floral design. “The stripe was inspired by a Rothko painting, with colors designed to vibrate and evoke a sense of calm,” says Hurley. “The floral, on the other hand, is meant to be more of a whisper—subtle and textured, rather than a bold, in-your-face print.” The palette comes through in light blues, creams, dusky coral, and a stone-beige coined “pebble.” The patterns are available on all the collections’ offerings: sheet sets in both traditional percale and washed European linen variations, quilts, comforters—even a new lumbar pillow.
In its entirety, the collection already feels lived-in—apropros of Brooklinen’s laid-back vibe—and the palette and materials feel summer-appropriate in beachy pastels and moisture-wicking fabrics. If we had our way, this would round out a coastal decor moment with rattan bedside tables, shell brass sconces, and a few bedside collections of sea glass. In any case, in any designscape, these sheets are capable of what Brooklinen always achieves to us: durable, cooling, trendy designs with quality and longevity in mind. As of today, the full collection is now available online.
